
A restaurant can work around a burned-out light for a little while. It should not work around a hot outlet, a breaker that trips through every dinner rush, equipment that shocks an employee, or a burning smell near the electrical panel. Those restaurant electrical issues need prompt attention because they can point to damaged wiring, overloaded circuits, loose connections, or failing equipment.

Large motors draw extra current as they start. A brief voltage change may occur, but obvious dimming throughout the dining room or kitchen may indicate an overloaded circuit, loose service connection, panel issue, or inadequate electrical capacity.
